If you are about to complete your last year at high school and you want to enter the university, this information will be useful for you! This year the regular call for Selectivity, also known as EBAU (Evaluación de Bachillerato para el acceso a la Universidad), will be held in May for students with a non-national baccalaureate and in June for students with a National Baccalaureate. Find out where is going to take place the exam, so the dates may vary depending on each Autonomous Community.
As every year, there will be an extraordinary call in September; so you can increase your mark if it’s required by the career you want to enroll.
In Catalonia, for example, the 2020 Selectivity will take place between Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 June. And in September, between the 2nd and the 4th.
On the other hand, you have a maximum of four university pre-registration calls to be accepted at the university (depending on the autonomous community, the deadlines may vary, so you must be informed through the website of each university). These calls are usually held in June, July, September and October.
How are the Selectivity tests organized?
We explain how the Selectivity tests are organized as it follows. First you will held a mandatory exam (called the General Phase), which consists of four tests. If your autonomous community has a co-official language, there will be five exams: Spanish Language, History of Spain, First Foreign Language, a subject corresponding to the Baccalaureate field you have taken and Co-official Language.
There is also the voluntary phase (called the Specific Phase). Highly recommended in case the university course you are going to choose is very much in demand.
This test will weigh according to the university we want to apply. You will have to look for the degree in the table of the university and the subjects that have been designated to be able to increase your mark voluntarily. You can apply for a minimum of two subjects and a maximum of four.
What kind of questions will be included in the 2020 Selectivity tests?
In the Selectivity exams you will find open and semi-open questions where the capacity for reflection and criticism are valued. There will be also multiple choice.
How do you get your Selectivity marks?
Every exam of the Compulsory Phase is scored from 0 to 10 points. The final mark is the arithmetic average of all exams (which will correspond to the 40% of the final mark), plus a proportional part that corresponds to your final mark of your baccalaureate course (60%).
If you get more than 5 points at the Voluntary Phase, this mark must be weighted with the weighting parameter (depending on the degree, the achieved mark will be multiplied by 0.1 or 0.2) indicated by the university. It can be added in a maximum of two subjects. So, you can increase up to 4 points to your access note.
What is the minimum score to pass the Selectivity?
The minimum score required on the General Phase of the Selectivity is 4, while for the Specific Phase you need a minimum score of 5.
How do I claim my Selectivity mark?
