    Accommodation considerations

There are 3 types of housing available for students who wish to come to Barcelona.

Student Residences: Student residences are the safest option for students. They are usually for medium- to long-term stays (6 months to 1 year). The monthly cost of residences ranges from €700 to €1200, depending on the distance from the city center, the type of room (single, shared, or double), and the services you request (room, parking, gym, etc.).

Rooms: You can find rooms for rent in shared apartments with families or students. Prices can range from €400 per month (depending on whether it's a single, shared, or double room, as well as the location of the apartment).

Apartments: You can rent a home from €750 per month, without expenses included (for this option, you must consider the fact that utilities and contract management costs will not be included in the price and in some cases, they will not be furnished).

The documents required by the embassy may vary depending on the country where you are applying, as well as the expected duration of the course. Remember that one of the requirements is to present the certificate and invitation that Guiu Academy will provide you once you enroll. If you need help with your student visa, don't worry, you will find all the information and assistance you need at:

    recruitment@academiaguiu.com
    rrpp@academiaguiu.com

If you are outside of Spain and prefer personalized service, you can speak with any of our partner agents. They will help you complete your registration and answer any questions you may have about the visa application.

Voting: You can vote in your country's elections. You only need to go to your country's consulate or embassy with your personal identification. Power of Attorney: A power of attorney authorizes another person to manage and control personal assets and information if you are unable to do so. If you need to create a power of attorney, contact our team for complete information: info@academiaguiu.com

Telephone: Remember that the country code for Spain is +34. If you need assistance upon arrival, our phone lines are available Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Any member of our team will be happy to help you.

    (+34) 93 215 29 31

Email: If you need more detailed information, you can contact us at our email address: info@academiaguiu.com

Payments: Remember that Spain uses the Euro (€), which is valid in any country within the European Union; however, you can pay in almost any establishment with a debit or credit card. Check with your bank to see which card will offer you the best benefits when making a payment.

Bank Accounts: Once you arrive in the country, you can go to any bank and open an account using your passport number. Once you obtain your NIE (Foreigner Identification Number), you can update your identification details at the bank. If you need help or advice, please don't hesitate to ask us.

Cost of living: remember that without counting the amount you invest in accommodation, the shopping basket will range between €100 and €300 per month for students (depending on the type of diet you follow) and that monthly public transport will cost approximately €50.

Hand luggage: Before traveling, remember to pack the following in your hand luggage:

    • Passport.
    • Visa
    • Travel tickets
    • Prescription medicines
    • Cash (for emergencies or taxi rides)
    • Any official documentation you need for your studies (insurance policies, apostilled medical certificate, apostilled criminal record, national identification, apostilled transcripts)

Remember that each country has its own customs, so here are a few to give you a sneak peek:

Routines/Schedules: Life on the streets of Barcelona begins at 9:00, as do your studies. Lunchtimes are typically between 13:00 and 15:00 PM, and dinnertime between 20:00 and 22:00 PM.

Diet : The quintessential diet is the Mediterranean diet. This diet, considered one of the healthiest, is based on a variety of colors, obtained through vegetables, fruits, meats, and fish, complemented with various legumes and seasoned with olive oils and vinegars. The average price of a set menu in a restaurant is €12 (2 or 3 courses, dessert, and a drink).

Where to shop: You'll find grocery stores on every street. Deciding where to shop is up to you. Keep in mind that your average monthly shopping basket will cost around €150; or if you prefer, you can eat at any restaurant in the city, enjoying a varied daily menu based on local cuisine.

Facilities: The city is constantly modernizing. The constant flow of tourism has defined Barcelona as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Spain, as well as the world. You can enjoy modern centers equipped with the latest technology, as well as centers themed around the 60s and even themed centers.

Transportation: Getting around the city is much easier than you might think; the entire city is connected by public transport. You can reach any corner of the city using trains, the metro, buses, and/or trams. Since it's a public transport system, you can travel by any of these methods by purchasing a transport card (approximately €50 per month for unlimited travel). If you prefer private transport, don't worry, there's an extensive taxi network in the city, and they're very easy to access.

Leisure: If you're looking for daytime entertainment, head to the large shopping centers scattered throughout the city; some boast 5 stars. You can also enjoy cinemas, bowling alleys, arcades, figure skating, and just about any other activity you might fancy. If you're looking for nightlife, the city comes alive after dark. There are countless nightclubs and bars where you can enjoy a safe and lively atmosphere. To give you an idea of prices, a cinema ticket will cost around €7, and a cocktail in the evening around €6.
